树莓派劲敌：ARM与IBM合推物联网开发套件

英国芯片设计公司ARM和美国IT服务巨头IBM刚刚合作推出了一款“入门套件”，希望促进物联网市场的发展。ARM和IBM表示，用户只需要花5分钟从箱子中取出这款设备，便可开始向在线应用发送读数。他们表示，这将简化智能家居、智能城市和其他物联网项目的测试过程，小型创业公司也将从中受益。

这个物联网入门套件包含两个部分：

一个预先配置好的微控制器开发板，内置了ARM Cortex-M4处理器和少量内存，可以用于执行单一任务。

一个传感器扩展板，包含了温度计、加速器、两个调光旋钮、一个蜂鸣器、一个小型控制杆、一个LED灯以及一个矩形黑白液晶屏。

这两个元件可以相互配合，并通过网线接入网络，或者通过USB线与其他电脑设备相连。该设备可以读取其周围环境或者与之相连的物体的数据。

根据包装盒内的用户手册，使用者可以访问IBM网站。在该网站输入设备认证码后，便可看到实时记录的数据，另外还可使用IBM和其他公司开发的各种工具，用于分析相关信息，或者借此控制其他联网设备。

这两家公司给出了一个示例：使用这个套件将当地环境数据发送到远程数据中心，然后通过数据中心返回的指令控制由联网灯泡组成的智能照明系统。

另外一个更为先进的示例是，将一系列智能捕鼠器接入网络，使得门卫可以知道哪个捕鼠器被触发，避免逐个查看这些捕鼠器。

“事实上，使用方式的唯一限制就是人类的想象力。”IBM开发副总裁罗布·兰姆(Rob Lamb)说。

ARM营销副总裁扎克·谢尔比(Zach Shelby)补充说：“任何人都可以使用这套工具，无论是通过Kickstarter众筹的创业公司，还是大企业的工程师。”

这套入门套件将由飞思卡尔生产，售价尚未确定，但ARM表示，区间大约为50至200美元。

事实上，该套件中使用的元件并不新颖，但将其组合到一起却表明ARM和IBM希望为自家生态系统吸引更多开发者，以便与对手展开竞争。

根据美国市场研究公司Gartner的预测，今年年底联网的“物”（包括冰箱、洒水器和汽车等）将接近50亿台，到2020年将达到这一数字的4倍。

ARM通过授权芯片设计和收取物联网嵌入操作系统费用赚取营收，IBM则提供一系列兼容云计算服务，包括在线应用开发和运行平台Bluemix以及人工智能分析系统Watson。

IBM的目的是为购买入门套件的开发者提供这些产品的免费试用机会，然后说服他们购买正式版本。《制造商》(The Manufacturer)杂志主笔鲁拉里·麦卡利昂(Ruari McCallion)说：“这对这两家公司来说是一次非常敏感的合作，因为他们可以推出相互竞争的入门套件。但价格越低越好。”

Getting started

What should happen

Within a few seconds the light on your starter kit should have lit up green, and the status on the LCD screen should be "connected"

You should see a drive appear on your computer, which contains a file called "IBM.htm" - double click this to open it in a browser. You should now be seeing the data being sent from your starter kit.

其实这是完全不相干的，树莓派是应用级处理器，上面那个是微处理器ARM cortex-m4系列的，面向低端应用。
