w          Please note we are recruiting SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT engineer to develop a mobile testing system, NOT TESTING engineer.w          Location: Beijingw          Business Segment/Project Background: Spirent is expanding its capacity to develop Wireless Performance/Application test solutions. These test solutions are required to meet increasing customer demands for testing 3G applications on wireless terminals in a cost effective and timely manner. With the wireless R&D effort expanding into China, a highly effective team will be set up to facilitate this goal.w          Position Description: The successful candidate will be part of a team developing application software for Spirent’s industry leading wireless device test systems.  The primary focus of the position is on the test specifications and the associated application software that controls the test equipment to manage the test procedure and test results.
 This includes the integration of hardware and software. The successful candidate will implement new products as well as enhancements to existing products.  Product areas include systems and system components used for testing wireless devices (namely CDMA2000 or GSM/GPRS/WCDMA) for compliance to several industry standards. 

Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and ability to lead a small development team. Candidates are expected to have strong leadership and good communication skill, especially in English, as required to work within an engineering team and coordinate with foreign colleagues. A good understanding of underlying wireless technologies (CDMA2000/WCDMA) is highly desired. Responsibilities: w          Development responsibilities include specification, design, implementation, and design verification of software and or system components
w          Development of state machine based network protocol processing
w          Development of Microsoft Windows based application software
w          Development and ground-up implementation of application software
w          Development with databases and reporting systemsw          Analysis of wireless standards from 3GPP, 3GPP2, OMA and other standard bodies.w          Troubleshoot of complex technical problems which involve software and hardware systems. May include ability to utilize laboratory equipment such as spectrum analyzers, power meters, etc.w          Creation of technical design documents, and source material for user documentation.w          Provide weekly status report of management.w          Facilitate supervisor to recruit and train new hires. Qualifications/Requirements:Education/Experience:w          BSEE/BSCE required. MSEE/MSCE highly desired. Master degree with minimal 3 years working experience, or bachelor degree with minimal 7 years working experience, in telecommunications industry. Please note internship is NOT regarded as working experience. w          Rich R&D experience on communication systems, especially on 3G wireless technologies. Have good knowledge of network architecture, signaling protocols and process, especially air interface signaling protocols.w          Hands-on experience in working within a structured software development environment that includes Requirements Analysis/Definition, Design, Defect Tracking, Configuration Management Software and Structure Testing.w          Experience of developing complicated automatic testing system is highly desired.w          Experience with object-oriented design and windows-based programming is highly desired. w          Experience with software/hardware integration and debugging.w          Experience using basic laboratory test equipment such as spectrum analyzer, etc. Skills (Hardware, Software, Machine operations, etc.): w          The successful candidate must have strong familiarity with CDMA2000 or UMTS wireless communication technologies and a high aptitude for protocol layer details related to access networks.
w          Experience with design verification testing of wireless terminals is desired.
w          Strong knowledge on OOD and OOP.
w          Working knowledge of Windows application development, such as MFC and .NET, is desired.
w          Strong programming skills in at least one of widely used OO languages, such as C++, C#, and Java.
w          A working knowledge of user interface development and databases and reporting is desired.
w          Motivated, self-starter who likes challenging work.
w          Possesses strong problem solving skills and team-oriented approach.
w          Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
 Language:w          Good English communication ability, especially listening and speaking.w          Proficient in reading English technical documents, such as protocol spec and design documents.w          Proficient in writing technical materials (emails & documents…) in English.
