SanDisk的Vaulter磁碟
固态硬盘真的是储存媒体的新潮流，携带式储存媒体大厂SanDisk日前宣布将在明年推出Vaulter磁盘，是SSD固态硬盘的结构，都是以大容量的闪存为基础的模块，容量有8GB和16GB两款，足以让笔记本电脑使用者存放系统、常用的应用软件、或各种影音资料，将可以让笔记本电脑更轻薄更省电，该公司宣称将在明年稍早就开始OEM量产。
Details are light, but apparently SanDisk will be announcing a devicecalled the Vaulter Disk next year, which will basically be somethinglike an SSD intermediary -- a large bank of fast flash memory forspeeding up platter-based drive access. Sounds a lot like the lovechildof RAMdisk and a hybrid hard drive, but we won't know more until alater date.
Update:We've got more details! It'll come in 8GB and 16GB sizes, and isintended to host the laptop's operating system and select user data,leaving apps, media, and everything else to the platter drives. Socalling it an SSD intermediary is pretty accurate. It'll be availableto OEMs early next year. |
